A Musical Tribute Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sunday, Jan. 18, 7:30pm

Oakland Scottish Rite Center, 1547 Lakeside Dr.

This soulful celebration is Oakland's only non-denominational musical tribute to Dr. King, one of the greatest humanitarians of our time. Only days from Obama's inauguration, this year's event will be a profound celebration of civil rights.

Featuring: Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra with Faye Carol, Kenny Washington, Jeannine Anderson, and Nicolas Bearde; Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir; Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company; and The Oakland Children's Community Choir with the Oaktown Jazz Workshops.

Archival footage of Dr. King's oratories and the presentation of the Oakland Citizen Humanitarian Award help make this one of Oakland's most significant events.

Admission $12, children $5, Under 6 FREE.
