Each new movie by Tarsem Singh (The Fall) has come to be an occasion for fans of extravagant visuals, and this energetic if bombastic reimagining of the Greek myth of Theseus (Henry Cavill), doing battle with the evil King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke; we told you it was bombastic) over the magical Epiros Bow, is no exception. Before it dissolves into cheap-CGI overkill in the late going, director Singh shakes the heavens. So does the lovely Freida Pinto as an oracular priestess. Screenplay by a quartet of writers. Also with Luke Evans as Zeus and Stephen Dorff as Theseus’ sidekick, Stavros. (103 min.)
Director: Tarsem Singh
Writer: Charley Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides
Cast: Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto, Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Robert Maillet, Corey Sevier, Alan Van Sprang, Neil Napier and Mercedes Leggett
