Pastry chef Mary Canales’ pastel-pretty take on ice cream and its paraphernalia: crisp, buttery cones, shortbread cookies, and bits of chocolate-covered almonds called dragées. Ice creams at this tiny Elmwood shop have recherché flavorings like rose and nutmeg-candied orange. They’re also carefully undersweetened, which makes them seem both impeccable and austere. Impeccability doesn’t come cheap, but Ici’s perfect affogatto (vanilla ice cream doused with espresso) and ice cream sandwiches are worth every dollar.
