Hookers Descend on Vallejo

Thanks to its booming prostitution industry, Vallejo can finally be known for something other than Mac Dre. Apparently, hookers are now commuting from as far away as Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Minnesota, Texas, and — ironically — Nevada, to become part of the city's new red light district. While the woefully understaffed police force says it's "overwhelmed" by a staggering number of complaints, angry residents have taken matters in their own hands. They've formed ad-hoc watch groups and even resorted to public shaming, by posting the names and photos of johns in store windows. Kevin Fagan's recent Chron story includes interviews with some of the more colorful characters, including 43-year-old, aptly named "Toothless."
