The holidays are stressful. Between shopping for gifts for others and ugly sweaters for yourself, you’ll have every reason to need to let off some steam before you head home to Mom and Dad. Give thanks then to The Chapel (777 Valencia St., San Francisco), which has curated an excellent lineup of mostly local bands to help put you at ease — while still feeling appropriately festive, of course. The Blank Tapes, with its Sixties garage-rock folky sound, is nostalgic; Electric Magpie makes classic feel-good Seventies power-rock; The Spiral Electric is a psych-rock group with a mind-bending sound; and Assateague has a heartfelt, bluesy folk-rock sound. If you need to be rescued from a holidays-induced stupor, this is the way to do it.
