History Keeps Me Awake

When: Fridays-Sundays. Continues through March 8 2020
Price: $25-$44
Never following, always leading — even from the back row — TheatreFIRST pushes Bay Area audiences to the front line with two new solo works. Presenting the LGBTQIA2+ spectrum with Skyler Cooper’s supercharged A One Man Show and Elaine Magree’s no-empty-space-allowed PussyGrabbingREVENGE, the reality, drama and commonalities of the queer community carve into contemporary consciousness. The trail established is long overdue; filling in gaps and missing voices from people of color, women, and individuals who self-identity outside of binary gender. Sounds too serious, maybe suffocatingly righteous, yeah? Oh, but in the hands of dynamic performers, with direction from two Amazon women of theater, Domenique Lozano and Susannah Martin, be assured there are laughs, tender moments and poignant reminders that in the end, we are human. On the front line, we are one.
