Himalayan Fair

When: Sat., May 29, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sun., May 30, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. 2010
Price: $5

Berkeley's devotion to Himalayan culture is readily apparent, considering the profusion of "Free Tibet" bumper stickers and Katmandu import stores on Telegraph Avenue. But nothing speaks love like an annual fair, now celebrating its 27th year at Live Oak Park (1300 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley). As always, the Himalayan Fair features two full days of music and dance performances; vendors selling jewelry and apparel from Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Tibet, and Pakistan; local artisans; holistic healers; and a variety of regional cuisine. This year's performers include Riffat Sultana, ShwetaJhaveri, and the pan-genre Middle Eastern band Ancient Future. Admission includes a raffle ticket to win a Tibetan rug or a trip to Nepal. Proceeds benefit grassroots Himalayan organizations. Saturday, May 29 (10 a.m.-7 p.m.), and Sunday, May 30 (10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.).$5. HimalayanFair.net
