Comedy, Drama
Tell him to go away. Suffering from a generic terminal illness, the title character (Luke Wilson) buys a suburban house and settles in to die, but after his Catholic neighbor (Adriana Barraza) discovers a water stain on the house that vaguely suggests the face of Christ, pilgrims with candles start sneaking into his backyard. With numbing predictability, this contrived situation leads to a debate over the power of faith, and given that the other key characters are named Patience (Rachel Seiferth) and Dawn (Radha Mitchell), you can probably guess who wins. Mark Pellington directed a first script by Albert Torres; with George Lopez, Cheryl Hines, and Richard Benjamin (100 min.).
