.Hella Latina Food Pop-Up Series

Check out Hella Latina’s pop-ups this fall for a taste of Mexican and “soul food-like” flavors. Launching Friday, Sept. 29, the first occasion will be “Cocina Mexicana,” with chicken or potato tacos along with complementing sides and the catering company’s signature “OG” salsa. Attendees will also have a choice of agua de tamarindo (tamarind) or agua de jamaica (hibiscus). Hella Latina’s following events will take place on Oct. 20, Nov. 17, and Dec. 15, with the themes of “Cocina Caribe” (Caribbean baked bass, greens, coconut rice), “Community Dinner” (all-you-can-eat spaghetti feed), and “Cena de Invierno” (winter meal with a to-be-announced menu), respectively. This pop-up series is organized by Leo Orleans, who is also the founder of Hella Latina Catering and Infused Food. Orleans hopes to raise funds for Oakland SOL’s Youth Internship & Community Garden and The Farmers of the Global Majority Network Scholarship.

Friday, Sept. 29, $15-$50 sliding-scale donation, Oakland SOL, 1236 23rd Ave., Oakland, Facebook.com/HellaLatina
