Thank you for your comment @Jane_Sommerhause_Elliott. Just to clarify, DeCaprio, Xu, and the two other activists are not facing a lawsuit, but rather are facing felony charges. They are being charged as criminals, and being prosecuted in criminal court. Additionally, this was not regarding DeCaprio's house, which, to my knowledge is not under threat, but rather is regarding a secondary house allied with Land Action, a not-for-profit Steve founded in 2012.

Good point, @Ralph_Kanz. It seems like predatory lending is something that needs to be prosecuted on the local level, while the speculation practices that incentivise it must be addressed federally. The practice of leaving houses empty in order to flip them seems to be a problematic symptom of a secondary speculative market.
