Happy Days on Ice

When: Mondays-Fridays, 12-8 p.m. Continues through Oct. 31 2009
Price: $5

Want to take a spin in a poodle skirt? The folks at Oakland'sJack London Squarehave set up an ice rink near Barnes & Noble. The little oval is open all month, but weekends will feature themed events, such as this Saturday and Sunday's tribute to the 1950s. The following weekend will be costume skating, as the rink wraps things up on Halloween.  If you can't make it during the weekend, the temporary ice capades are open Monday through Friday from noon until 8 p.m., with proceeds from skate rental going to Meals on Wheels. Sounds like a natural connection to roller skating. $5 rental or free with a $10 receipt from a restaurant in the area.
