Hannah Rosin: "The End of Man: And the Rise of Women"

When: Thu., Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $12-$15

Duck and cover, dudes: The end is nigh. Or so author and Atlantic contributor Hanna Rosin appears to claim in her latest book, The End of Men, already a bona-fide shit-starter on the Internet, having been the subject of what feels like hundreds of critiques, praises, and dissections since its publication earlier this month. But for all that, the book's bark is, by and large, much worse than its bite: It may have a bright yellow cover, a catchy title, a provocative premise, and boatloads of buzz, but in reality, it's a remarkably well researched, nuanced look at the changing roles of women and men -- and, really, our entire social order. See for yourself when Rosin speaks at the Hillside Club (2286 Cedar St., Berkeley) on Thursday, Sept. 20 -- and try to resist the urge to blog about it. 7:30 p.m., $7-$15. 510-848-3227 or BerkeleyArts.org
