Horror, Thriller
Two years ago, writer-director Rob Zombie resuscitated the moribund Halloween franchise by giving masked serial killer Michael Myers a tragic origin. With its sequel, Halloween II, Zombie takes everything he accomplished, wipes his ass with it, then flings the excrement-dripping product at you as if to say, "Fooled you. I’m in it for the paycheck, suckas!" This is not an exaggeration. You’ll feel that dirty afterward. Sure, there’s an attempt to reinvent Laurie Strode (Myers' long-lost sister in Zombie’s reinvention) as an equally dysfunctional arch-nemesis to her big bro — an intriguing idea for sure, but their familial rivalry seems cobbled together by a director who used up all his tricks the first time around. Or he was just too busy spending all his new money to care (101 min.).
Director: Rick Rosenthal
Producer: Debra Hill and John Carpenter
Cast: Jamie Curtis, Donald Pleasence, Charles Cyphers, Jeffrey Kramer, Lance Guest, Pamela Shoop, Hunter von Leer, Leo Rossi, Gloria Gifford, Ana Alicia, Ford Rainey, Cliff Emmich, Alan Haufrect, Lucille Benson, Jonathan Prince and Dick Warlock
