The Farrelly Brothers were the kings of “young male” comedy in the late Nineties and early 2000s (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary), but time has passed them by. In this tired-looking marital sitcom, fortyish family men Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are each granted a “week off” by their wives (Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate) to act like they’re single again — but they have a tough time matching their fantasies with reality, and crawl back ashamed. What fun is that? After we get past the two gross-out money shots it might as well be a sexual abstinence PSA. Quick question: If there’s full frontal male nudity, where’s the female version? Pete Jones and Kevin Barnett helped Peter and Bobby Farrelly write the screenplay. Richard Jenkins and Kristin Carey costar. (105 min.)
Director: Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly
Writer: Bobby Farrelly and Kevin Barnett
Cast: Alyssa Milano, Owen Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate, Alexandra Daddario, Richard Jenkins, Stephen Merchant, Vanessa Angel, Jason Sudeikis and Tyler Hoechlin
