Some of the most interesting electronic music incorporates live instrumentation. On that front, 23-year-old electronic music producer Grant Kwiecinski, aka GRiZ, is pretty unique: A classically trained saxophonist, he plays his instrument over bass-infused hip-hop beats, creating feel-good party music in the same vein as Pretty Lights (for which he opened this summer). He incorporates funk and soul into his sound, and samples vinyl live during his performances. Fittingly, GRiZ started out by DJing his own music at college parties. Count on him to bring a festive vibe at The Independent (628 Divisadero St., San Francisco) this Sunday, alongside Two Fresh, a futuristic electronic hip-hop duo that performs with a live drummer, and Anvil Smith, an electro-funk electronic music producer.
