Comedy drama, Romantic comedy
Mopey-but-sweet Australian entry in the Kick-Ass homemade superhero sweepstakes tells of a shy, bullied shipping clerk named Griff (Ryan Kwanten) who discovers the missing ingredient in his super identity – invisibility – when his brother’s nerdy girlfriend Melody (Maeve Dermody) falls for him and brings her science into the enterprise. It’s the harmless feature debut of writer-director Leon Ford, who wisely downplays the costumed-crime-fighter stuff in favor of the love story. Also with Patrick Brammall. (93 min.)
