This tiny, friendly International Boulevard eatery prepares and serves some of the Bay Area’s brightest, tastiest Lao cuisine: a duck larb (salad) brisk with fresh herbs and lime; intensely flavored chopped catfish steamed in banana leaves; chicken noodle soup fragrant with ginger, chilies, and coconut; sausages made of fermented raw pork and lemongrass, onions, and peppers. There are Thai specialties as well (the beef pad kee mao with thick noodles is especially satisfying), and don’t forget to order plenty of sticky rice, a Laotian requirement. No liquor, but the sweet, creamy soy milk and Thai iced coffee are worth ordering.
