Green Motors Grand Opening

When: Sat., Dec. 15, 2 p.m. 2007
Price: free

So-called "neighborhood electric vehicles" -- i.e., cars that run on house current -- don't get quite the same mileage as regular gas-guzzling vehicles, but they're a lot cheaper -- not to mention you'd never have to go to a gas station again. And they'll soon be a lot more popular in the EastBay. This Saturday, Dec. 15, marks the opening of Green Motors (1500 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley), a new electric car dealership proffering such inventions as the Zero Emission No Noise (ZENN) car, the iT car by Dynasty Motors, an electric scooter called the Oxygen, and a foldable Hightek bike that runs up to twelve miles an hour on its rechargeable battery. The grand opening celebration will feature speeches by Loni Hancock and Tom Bates, plus organic crackers, wine, ice cream, Numi tea, and free test drives. 2 p.m. GoGreenMotors.com
