Re: “More Bands Are Chasing Fewer Bucks

Thanks to Piero, whose comments are really what i was directed here to read; the story header is almost self-evident to any who've had their eyes open as to the local scene, or even just to ticket prices as posted anymore; someone is making some money, but where is the music? Who can afford it?
I hope Piero can get a column in a paper, if not this one, perhaps the SFBG would consider printing you? It's right up their alley, as far as where they proclaim there allegiance, i'.e., locally...
You know, it's even hard to find a place to play outdoors anymore, without being shut down, or chased away...
I mean, in a nutshell, i believe a lot of musicians actually could make some money with music, who don't at this time, if we just had a place to play. Most musicians i know would be thrilled to pull in enough to justify the continued practice of our art, love, and obsession, which music must be for anyone to even be able to get good at it; instead, one commentator signaled that he had to stop playing and work more... this is not what life is about, is it? Where is all the hard work we all do getting us?
Anyhoo, i want to invite anyone who's interested to come to my grateful Tuesday open mic/jam at Ireland's 32, located at Geary and 3rd ave, SF
it's every Tuesday at 8 o'clock; i do this for YOU, to do my part in keeping at least one venue easily accessible to YOU one night a week, and i would do far more, given a chance...
but meanwhile, this is a great venue for an open mic, and of course it is FREE
although i'll be grateful if you smoke or share some nice herbs with me, of course. I have 8 o'clock signups, and give performers 3 songs or 15 minutes, more if folks are dancing; there is plenty of room to dance; we welcome poetry, comedy, story, and lately i've put a special invite out for anyone who needs a mic to whistleblow or generally expound upon the sad state of our state, etc...
i have a jam session for whomever is still standing after everyone plays...

Peace + Love to you all
