Got kids in an Oakland public school? Keeping them home today on strike day? Time on your hands? Then why not treat the whole family to a matinee double-feature at Oakland's Grand Lake Theater? The theater is normally not open this early, but owner Allan Michaan made an exception: "We are happy to support Oakland's teachers in their efforts to improve our schools," he wrote in a press release. For $5, catch How to Train Your Dragon in 3D and Oceans, an animated Disney short, at noon or 2:15. Popcorn and 3D glasses included. Full release after the jump.

In response to the needs raised by the teachers strike on Thursday
April 29 the Grand Lake will offer the following special program
during school hours:

In theater #1:

shown at 12:30 and 2:30

In theater #2 (upstairs):

OCEANS (G rated Disney feature — not animated)

shown at 12:00 and 2:15

All tickets for these shows will be only $5.00

3D glasses are included in this price for "Dragon"

Free popcorn will be provided as well.

We are happy to support Oakland's teachers in their efforts to improve
our schools.
