How We Operate

This guitar-driven five-piece from England changes genres with every album. For their seventh full-length record How We Operate, the rocking boys sound a little country, with guitar twangs and down-home melodies coloring the mix. One of two vocalists, Ian Ball brings a soul-baring honesty to his delivery while cohort Ben Ottewell's gravelly notes translate into blustery frankness, as witnessed on the title track. When the two harmonize on "Tear Your Love Apart" the blending happens in stages, then meshes into an entirely new third voice. Adjusting to Gomez' new personality proves worth it.
