Romantic comedy
Two losers in love. He’s a childish NYC record-label drone (Justin Long). She’s a delusional 31-year-old journalism grad-student from SF, seeking a job with a major metropolitan daily (Drew Barrymore). What are they doing with each other? And what are we doing watching this manically dreary, physically nauseating date movie from hell? The lack of emotion, not to mention the poverty of language, is staggering. Blame all of the above on writer Geoff LaTulippe and director Nanette Burstein (American Teen). Quick question: Why is it that Long always sounds like he’s selling something? Keep your distance (103 min.).
