Horror
Decent enough run-through of classic zombie routines by the master himself, George A. Romero. But once again we have to ask ourselves: How much is enough already? On a small island off Delaware, an old-fashioned Irish-American family feud plays itself out with the added attraction of a squad of trigger-happy soldiers escaped from the mainland, plus the usual legion of tissue-scroggling “deadheads.” Alan Van Sprang is willing and able as the alpha male army sergeant, as is Kathleen Munroe in a dual role as a set of twin daughters named O’Flynn. But Kenneth Welsh and Richard Fitzpatrick gnaw the scenery worse than the zombies as old man O’Flynn and old man Muldoon, respectively. Somebody throw them a box of Lucky Charms. Nothing we haven’t seen many times before, but maybe that’s what die-hard zombie-ologists are looking for after all. Romero wrote and directed (90 min.).
