Re: “California Targets Wrong Water Wasters

Good article. Add another big water waster--the soft drink companies such as Dr. Pepper in Victorville that uses 250 million gallons of water a year in that high desert location. And in Beverly Hills, Bel Air and other Los Angeles locations, they are tearing down big mansions to build mega-mansions with more bathrooms than many small hotels, and sometimes two swimming pools. So why should the little guys be fined for washing their cars and watering their lawns to protect their home investment? Especially when Stewart and Linda Resnick (who live in the largest mansion in Beverly Hills and others like John Vidovich, their Silicon Valley real estate development partner in the Kern Water Bank, can resell California water for millions of dollars of profits for themselves, thanks to the Monterey Amendments sweet deal they got back in 1992 from the state of California? Until these inequities are solved, yes, I, too, will continue to take long showers in protest to the mismanagement from the CA bureaucrats in Sacramento and influence of politicians like Sen. Diane Feinstein who goes out of her way to channel more water to the Resnicks every chance she gets.

Re: “The Water Tunnel Boondoggle

$1 billion gets San Diego County a new desal plant with a GUARANTEED annual output. Wouldn't $20 billion (or maybe less if all could be contracted at the same time) build 20 desal plants with a GUARANTEED annual production that does not rely on the vagaries of droughts and up river rights? The BDCP horse pulling the water project has become a camel by committee. Moreover, there is already emerging technology to make water out of the air that is very promising and will be available for sale within the next 5 years. Just putting one of these types of water coolers in every rural farm home would free up cheaper water for the farmers. They could afford to donate the water by air coolers free to every home versus building this insane twin tunnel project for King Jerry Brown's legacy. I've never seen so many lemmings going over the cliff for a politician in my 74 years of life. Last night there was an expose on PBS how this happened with the NSA after Pres. George W. Bush gave the OK to spy on every American and things spun out of control until the young Edward Snowden outed the NSA with actual documents to the press. Truth rises to the top slowly like cream. Eventually, we'll see that this insanity goes all the way to the top of our federal government--maybe even the oval office. We know already that Sen. Feinstein is one of the pushers for it to benefit her billionaire friends, Stewart and Linda Resnick and his partners at the Kern Water Bank, who, as the article stated, are reselling water for millions of dollars in profits.

Keep up the good work! Kudos to the writer, Joaquin Palomino!

Re: “Brown Should Kill the Water Tunnels — Not High-Speed Rail

Both are insane projects, financially, and the BDCP project is the worst on all accounts. Why take away 130,000-140,000 acres of prime farmland in the California Delta from farmers for "co-equal goals" habitation to benefit desert farmers and especially billionaires like Stewart and Linda Resnick of Paramount Farms, who also have a controlling interest in the Kern Water Bank? There are many other puppet masters behind the scenes like Resnicks who have been reselling water at huge profits. The Delta is already oversubscribed. Other less expensive, better alternatives are available, but Governor Brown and the federal government refuse to listen. They will ignore all public comments and try to jam through this project without a vote of the people to spend billions of dollars. There's nothing "co-equal" at all about this New Age Government that creates governments within the government. Even the head of the Fish & Game can't really veto this project, or he'll be out of a job the next day for sure, since Governor Brown is his boss!
