Great article. It's really strange that EBMUD won't partner with CCWD, especially since the CCWD general manager is a former EBMUD employee.

And, here's some more info about EBMUD's faulty decision-making process:

Later this year EBMUD plans to close its Customer Service counter located in the company's HQ in downtown Oakland. Customers will no longer be able to do anything in person, such as pay their bill or pick up water-saving devices. EBMUD will be the ONLY local water company not offering face-to-face service for its customers. Very disappointing.

Maybe East Bay Express could contact Board President Linney and have him explain why EBMUD is heading in this customer-unfriendly direction.
