Re: “Updated: More Shake-Ups as Recall Effort Stalled at KPFA

And now, the story behind the story: KPFA administrators failed to visualize the inflating economic bubble earlier in the decade. As the bubble grew, friends hired friends who hired friends. They are now desperate to maintain those jobs - at any cost to KPFA and its listeners.

KPFA will operate in the red by this year's end. Despite this fact, these cynically named "saveKPFA" job-holders are adamant that no cuts to the staffing budget be allowed. Instead, their plan is to pitch to a wider, centrist demographic, effectively dumbing down KPFA's programming and grow the paying audience, thereby securing their jobs over time.

Rosenberg and the current executive director attempted to behave responsibly, calling for needed layoffs of paid staff at the station. That crime has generated the recall and the termination of the ED. Sad, isn't it?
