Gábor G. Gyukics

When: Tue., Jan. 22, 7:30 p.m. 2008
Price: free

Along with goulash and Saint Stephen, Hungary has also produced poet/translator Gábor G. Gyukics, author of Street Performance, Last Smile, Half-Naked Muse, Swimming in the Ground, Gypsy Drill, and Transparent Lion. Along with his own contemplative poems (sample lines: "A weird vibration disturbs the air/as a long lasting battle flares between two civilizations. .../Isn't progress ambiguous?"), Gyuliks has introduced English-speaking readers to the works of his compatriots Attila Balogh, Attila József, and others. Meet him at Moe's (2476 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley) on Tuesday, Jan. 22. 7:30 p.m. MoesBooks.com
