Fright Night Fund-Raiser

When: Sat., Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m. 2009
Price: $25-$30

The undead enjoyed an unexpected resurgence this fall in every pop culture arena from Hollywood to comic books to funky art galleries. Even a small nonprofit in Alameda couldn't resist their allure. On Friday, Oct. 24, Rhythmix Cultural Works (2513 Blanding Ave.) will host a seasonal Fright Night Fund-Raiser, complete with fortune telling, a "sideshow bar" and "dilapidated carnival," and an auction for weird, offbeat items, all in accordance with the organization's current gallery exhibition, Aghast. Patrons can drink unearthly beverages, compete in a high-stakes costume contest, and dance to the retro R&B of local band Lord Loves a Working Man. 7:30 p.m., $25-$30. Rhythmix.org
