1. The City of San Jose plans to spend at least another $20 million to buy property for a future ballpark for the Oakland A’s. The Merc reports that the city has already spent $26 million in redevelopment funds so far. But the city might run into problems because one of the land owners on the proposed stadium site, AT&T, doesn’t want to sell.
2. The California Chamber of Commerce pulled attack ads that it was running against Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown after Brown and his wife complained to several businesses involved in the chamber. The LA Times reports that GOP candidate Meg Whitman immediately accused Brown of using his position as attorney general to coerce businesses he regulates into lobbying to pull the ads.
