Lots of East Bay restaurants are offering special Mother's Day deals this coming Sunday.

Moms and their families can enjoy free desserts all day — from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. — at Berkeley's Meridian International Sports Cafe. Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill in Oakland will have a grand buffet brunch with tables indoors as well as outdoors on the dock with views of Lake Merritt — and Lake Chalet diners can get a $10 discount on gondola rides that day. Berkeley's Gather Restaurant will serve a special a la carte brunch whose offerings include Acme walnut-bread French toast with braised strawberry-kumquat topping, maple walnut sauce and Straus yogurt; Fried egg and roasted merguez sausage with chickpea ragout and preserved lemon aioli; and young chicken under a brick with heirloom bean hominy ragout and shaved spring radish. Although Italian Colors in Oakland's Montclair Village is normally closed during the day on Sundays, it will be open on Mother's Day to serve an a la carte brunch whose choices include lobster hash, Angus rib-eye steak and eggs, challah French toast, and Brie and mango quesadilla. Spenger’s Fresh Fish Grotto in Berkeley will add "Mom-inspired" a la carte entrees to its usual menu; these include grilled king salmon, Alaskan halibut Oscar, and house-smoked honey-glazed ham. Also, every mother visiting the restaurant that day can enter a drawing to win a private cooking class with Spenger’s Executive Chef Devon Boisen.
