Vince Vaughn gets put through the wringer in this kid-friendly fantasy of grown-up resentment and anguish, about Santa Claus' older, forgotten brother Fred (Vaughn), forced to move to the North Pole and help out Nick aka Santa (Paul Giammati) with the Christmas rush when Fred's luck runs out in Chicago. But there's trouble beyond the usual elf and reindeer jokes -- seems Santa's toy factory is threatened with being offshored by a snippy accountant (Kevin Spacey). The Siblings Anonymous scene is pretty good, and the rest flows smoothly. Directed by frequent Vaughn handler David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers), with Rachel Weisz, Miranda Richardson, and Kathy Bates (114 min., 2007).
