Frankie Cosmos

When: Sat., Nov. 16, 8-11:59 p.m. 2019
Price: $22.50
Indie-pop singer-songwriter Greta Kline, better known as Frankie Cosmos, is full of contradictions. On one hand, she’s a lover of obscure poetry, scrappy indie record labels and weirdo music scenes like the almost unmarketable anti-folk scene of New York in the early 2000s. On the other hand, she was born into a life of wealth and fame; the daughter of actor Kevin Kline and actress Phoebe Cates. Her music expresses the weirdness of feeling isolated, but does so with the confidence of a person that has felt external ease enough to explore their inner life. Validated, not just in spite of her weirdness but because of it, her excellent discography has been like a diary that’s watched her grow up and struggle with the messy emotions of youth. Now on her brilliant fourth record, Close It Quietly, she grapples with that bizarre time period that is your mid-20s: not quite an adult; not quite a kid.
