Fox Theater Restoration Almost Done

Fresh from writing about the Forest City Uptown apartments, Cecily Burt takes a look at the nearby Fox Theater, and developer Phil Tagami's work to restore it as part of the city's project to revitalize the Uptown area. We learn that the project cost a friggin' fortune, the grand opening is scheduled for February 5, and Tagami cries a lot. For years, leaders like Ignacio De la Fuente have claimed we have to green-light every development we can, because the good times won't last, and developers will walk away from Oakland first. Now, the Fox and the Forest City project are coming online just as one of the worst slowdowns in history descends upon us.
