Forrest Day

When: Fri., Nov. 16, 9:30 p.m. 2007
Price: $5-$8

Easily the most underappreciated rapper in the Bay Area, P.E.A.C.E. could kick the ass of his more popular Freestyle Fellowship brethren, Aceyalone and Abstract Rude, in any live performance context. Known for his steely tone and rippling, steeplechase cadence, P.E.A.C.E. is generally so pleasing to the ear that you forgive him for incomprehensible lyrics. Yet, he suffers from an evident paucity of recorded material. Perhaps that'll change soon. Having launched a rather improbable partnership with the jazz saxophonist-turned indie producer Forrest Day (who's written horn arrangements for such notables as Miguel Migs), P.E.A.C.E. may be preparing for an imminent comeback. They'll appear this Friday, Nov. 16 at Berkeley's Shattuck Down Low. The Zazous, Deraj the Scatterbrain, Celcius 7, and DJ Manimal will also perform. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and costs $8.
