Re: “Jerry Brown Raised $12 Million for His Two Oakland Schools

OSA has better test scores than the surrounding public schools. The teachers are paid well which translates to less apathy compared to the surrounding public schools. Also, the surrounding public schools have failed over and over again to prevent violence among Oakland's youths where OSA very rarely has had any instances of youth violence. It's true that the school has become more appealing to the parents of the hills which is leading to gentrification and taking away from what I think the core value of the school is: to help guide inner-city, lower income youths into taking a smarter path in life. As for what we can do about this I have no answer.
Our numbers and economic state of California have shown we must seek alternatives to business as usual and Jerry Brown, although imperfect, is striving to locate and implement these alternatives. I believe we are a failing state and the only way to save us and repair the damage done is to build strong values in our youths who will inherit and hopefully fix our problems. OSA is a step in the right direction.
I support Jerry Brown.

Re: “Mua Is Nothing if Not Existential

I mostly agree with what the reviewer stated. MUA is really not that great. My comment is that the manager John Mardikian is a total d-bag. I can't go into the story (sorry can't throw others under the bus), but suffice to say his attitude is miserable. How do you expect to keep customers with an attitude like that?
