FIRE FIRE FIRE ... and opera, too!

July 15-18 2009
Price: $35-$55

Wed - Sat, July 15-18, 2009, 8 PM-11:59 PM
2020 Engineer road, Oakland

The Crucible's 9th Annual Fire Arts Festival moves to a new location this year. The festival is a blazing nexus of science, engineering and art, with amazing installations and gigantic sculptures by prominent artists, and a variety of performances from circus arts and fire performers to hip-hop dance and eclectic music. This year's featured musical performance is the world premiere of The Rootabaga Opera by Emmy award-winning composer Dan Cantrell.

If you're first to name who inspired this work, you'll get a pair of tickets to opening night by emailing elerts@eastbayexpress.com. It won't be hard to find the NEW Fire Arts Arena off West Grand Avenue at the base of the Bay Bridge.
