Film Screening & Reception - Digital Storytelling ProjectFilm Screening & Reception - Digital Storytelling Project

When: Sat., June 12, 12 p.m. 2010
Price: Free

Oakland and Berkeley get all the history-geek love, with books, documentaries, and exhibits of area artifacts popping up on a regular basis. But head farther south and you'll find an area equally rich in history -- and, evidently, people interested in documenting it. Over the past three years, with the help of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Hayward of the Past and Coming to California Digital Storytelling projects have aimed to document Hayward's history. Over fifty people have contributed to the project by sharing their stories, which focus on topics like the roots of Hayward's gay prom and the Portuguese-American experience in the city. On Saturday, June 12, the Hayward Public Library (835 C St.) hosts a reception for the project, including a film screening and an opportunity to meet many of the participants.
