Comedy, Horror, Suspense/Thriller
Canadian writer-director Andrew Currie combines a throwaway gag from Shaun of the Dead--zombies being domesticated as household pets--with a tired spoof of 50s conformity. The story unfolds in an alternate universe where Americans have triumphed not in World War II but in "the zombie wars," tapping the undead to cut their suburban lawns and serve their martinis. If Currie thinks mocking the Eisenhower years is edgy, he must not have bought a greeting card in the last two decades; this indie exercise is so stultifying you might want to check your own pulse. With Carrie-Anne Moss, Dylan Baker, Tim Blake Nelson, and Billy Connolly, unrecognizable as the blue-skinned title character.
