Re: “Gluten-Free Glutton

Some of this info is out of date - several of these restaurants have now switched to Mariposa Bakery crust, which is a thousand times better (tastier & cheaper).

We had the same experience with Amici's in the marina in SF which still uses Still Riding crust. It was soggy, almost like it had melted, and seemed a little undercooked. And it was waaaay too expensive for the taste. Barely any toppings, and it was $26 for a 12 inch pie.

The GF pizza at Pizza Rustica is way better. My boyfriend and I had it twice and both times the texture was great. The crust they use is from Mariposa bakery in Oakland, which is why it's so awesome. I'm not sure why the owner wouldn't tell you that. It's stated right on Mariposa's website. I can't believe Amici's hasn't switched to the Mariposa crust - it's superior, and LOCAL. Oh, and it's less expensive than the Connecticut Still Riding Pizza.

Also, it looks like a few other restaurants have switched to Mariposa crusts, because Bobby G's is listed on Mariposa's website as well. Here's the list as of December 2009: Pizza Rustica, Pizza Pazza, Bobby G's, Penini's in moraga, De Vino's in Pleasant Hill.
