Family Bird Walk

When: Sat., March 22, 10 a.m. 2008
Price: free

Standing on almost invisibly slender legs, scanning the silvery shallows for signs of food, snowy egrets are among the many shorebird species gracing the EastBay. On a Saturday, March 22 Family Bird Walk at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge (1 Marshlands Rd., Fremont), docents will help kids create their own bird-watching field guides; then it's out onto the trails to learn about the salt marsh and see its feathered inhabitants. 10 a.m. Reservations required; call (510) 792-0222, ext. 43.
