Express Story Contest!

Fri., April 10 2009

April 18 is National Record Store Day, and the Express is paying tribute to the brick-and-mortar indie record stores that are at the center of our relationship with music. We want to hear about record store stories that have shaped your lives. Tell us your favorite memories from the narrow album-filled halls of your favorite record stores. What great discovery did you find while clanking through album after album before being struck by cover art that spoke to you? Did you ever get up close and personal with a famous band performing live inside the store or signing posters? Did you find a band mate or get a gig from the bulletin board by the entrance? Or did you meet your musical soul mate when you both reached for the last copy of a newly released album? Did you hang out at the record store just because it felt like home?

Whatever your fond memories are, we want to hear about them! Win $100 in Amoeba Music gift certificates by being the "best" story submitted. Limit 300-words (winning entry may appear in the April 15 issue of the Express). Deadline is Friday, April 10. Send your story to eLerts@EastBayExpress.com.
