Everyday Cheesemaking Book Release Party

To celebrate the release of her new book, Everyday Cheesemaking: How to Succeed Making Dairy & Nut Cheese at Home, urban homesteading guru K. Ruby Blume is hosting a bash at the Berkeley Ecology Center (2530 San Pablo Ave.). Watch as Blume milks a goat and demonstrates how to make whole-milk ricotta, and then taste the final product, all within the span of an hour — it should be about as fresh a cheese as you’ll ever enjoy. Blume will also have a variety of homemade cheeses — including chevre, cambozola, cashew-cheese tapenade, and oat American cheese — for sampling. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own homemade cheeses to share.
