The Contra Costa Times reports that today activist Jeffrey Heaton is covering the hillside outside the Lafayette BART station in white crosses in memory of the the nearly 3,000 US troops who have died in Iraq. Heaton says he intends to keep the memorial up for three years, although when he attempted a similar memorial 2003, vandals ultimately tore the crosses down.
