Re: “Meet Oakland's New Go-To Lobbyist

Dear Mr. Gammon,
You ask us to show you where your distortions or lies are.
Here is just one example which gets to the core of your allegations against Mr. Plazola, and which show that you were not really doing an investigative piece, but rather a hit piece. Had you done an investigative piece, you would have read the “investigation” at
http://boe-webextender.ousd.k12.ca.us/attachments/9079.pdf
and found the following:
Page 3 of report “findings”
“She (OCO organizer Christy Hogan) contacted administrators at ICS and Think College Now who reviewed the flyers and told Ms. Hogan that they would be placed in the
teacher mail boxes for distribution to the students.”

On Page 10 of the report, point 4, interview of Christy Hogan, Ms. Hogan states that flyers were “placed in teachers mailboxes for distribution to students” at Think College Now and International Community School.

You are factually wrong in stating that the EBAYC/OCO flyers were not distributed in the classroom. You should do your homework before you attack people.

The distribution of the flyers by the developer that you refer to was done only as a response to these actions by OCO, and these flyers were informational, asking parents to come to a future meeting to learn more about the project. It did not ask parents to support the project or to attend the planning commission, and they were approved for distribution by the principal of Think College Now because he seemed disgusted by the actions of OCO/EBAYC and thought the information should be balanced.

Beyond this, the picture you paint of Mr. Plazola is not correct. He is a good, decent person who works hard on behalf of our community. Shame on you.
