Action/Adventure, Suspense/Thriller
In Echelon Conspiracy, which could have also been called Eagle Eye 2, Shane West plays an everyman caught up in a conspiracy involving a self-aware computer with a penchant for bloodshed. After being given a cutting-edge cell phone (think HAL in your pocket), he finds himself receiving texts that predict plane crashes, recommend stocks on the verge of skyrocketing, and even point out which slot machines will pay big at the casino. The FBI obviously wants to know who’s behind said texts, which means a lot of running around and lame escapes, incredibly poorly shot and edited action sequences, and a climax so preposterous you’ll immediately forget the few good moments the movie had. Wait for DVD. Better yet, wait for TV (105 min.).
