Crime drama, Thriller
JW is a complicated guy. In addition to being a brilliant graduate business student and a social-climbing clothes horse, the dandified Stockholm resident (played by Joel Kinnaman from TV’s The Killing) also moonlights as a taxi driver. That’s the first of his big mistakes in Daniel Espinosa’s excellent crime yarn, which combines Latino and Eastern European drug gangs, a crooked bank takeover, and multitudinous betrayals in one nasty Swedish stewpot. Acting kudos to Kinnaman, Matias Varela (as an escaped convict), and Dragomir Mrsic as a conflicted Serbian hit man. Espinosa’s slam-bang action direction is excitingly mapped out by the screenplay, by Maria Karlsson, Hassan Loo Sattarvandi, and Fredrick Wikström, adapted from the novel by Jens Lapidus, Snabba Cash. (124 min.)
Director: Daniel Espinosa
Producer: Fredrik Wikstrom and Michael Hjorth
Cast: Joel Kinnaman, Matias Varela, Dragomir Mrsic, Lisa Henni, Deja Cukic, Annika Whittembury, Lea Stojanov, Fares Fares and Mahmut Suvakci
