Re: “Talk to the Taro

Oh, and I highly recommend the sesame mochi balls in ginger tea for dessert. Looked odd so we had to try it and we were pleasantly surprised. What a great way to finish off a meal - warming, digestive ginger tea with three floating spheres of delicious mochi that melt in your mouth. Perfect! And great to split between 2 people.

Re: “Talk to the Taro

This place was crowded when I checked it out for dinner a couple of weeks ago. It was only a 5 minute wait to get a table though and I was happy to see so many people eager to enjoy a new vegan joint in the East Bay. I would definitely go back - but I would NOT order the fried taro roll that the author of this review raved about so much. My husband ordered it - largeley due to this review - and it was gross. Greasy and bland, lacking texture or flavor - I couldn't take more than one bite and I DO like taro dishes. Sorry but yuck! I thoroughly enjoyed everything else. I had the green papaya salad - really delicious and refreshing - not laden with overly sweet, sopping dressing as is usually the deal at other restaurants. Also had a gluten pineapple curry dish which was dee-lish. Again, great flavors, not overly sweet or "pineappley" - probably because the pineapple sure tasted fresh and not canned to me. Also love that the rice is wholesome instead of white rice customarily served at most Asian restaurants, which lacks the flavor and nutrition of other rices.
