Driving Miss Daisy

When: Thursdays, Fridays, 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 2 & 8 p.m. Continues through Nov. 14 2007
Price: $27-$29

Rather than its usual musical fare, CTA Crossroads presents a 20th anniversary production of Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer prize-winning 1987 play Driving Miss Daisy, which of course also became a 1989 film with Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy that won Oscars for best picture, actress and adapted screenplay. Not bad for a play about a cranky old Southern Jewish biddy's friendship with her African-American chauffeur of 25 years in mid-20th-century Atlanta. Scarlett Hepworth, Darold Francis Holloway and Ray Renati star, and Marilyn Langbehn directs. Starting Oct. 19, Thursdays, Fridays, 8 p.m., Saturdays 2 & 8 p.m. Continues through Nov. 17, $27-$29. CTA Crossroads Theatre, 1277 Boulevard Way, Walnut Creek, 925-944-0597.
