This agreeable 3D musical update of Ted “Dr. Seuss” Geisel’s eco-fable about one kid’s campaign to bring real, live trees back to Thneedville delivers its message painlessly — with the added 21st-century touch of a malevolent tycoon (voice of Rob Riggle) who sells bottled air to pollution-plagued citizens. That’s Danny DeVito as the voice of the Lorax, guardian of trees; with Ed Helms as Once-ler, Betty White as Grandma Norma, and Zac Efron as Ted the kid. So what if the 3D is perfunctory? The drawing is terrific. Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul wrote the screenplay, adapted from Dr. Seuss’ 1971 children’s book. (94 min.)
