Comedy, Drama
Two numbskull estranged brothers -- overbearing vegetable gardener Sam (played by film editor turned actor Andrew Dickler) and meek, unsuccessful artist Tom (Ben York Jones) -- take a meandering Southern California road trip the day before Sam’s wedding. It may sound in outline like a mumblecore Sideways, but the screenplay (by Dickler, director Drake Doremus, Jonathan Schwartz, and Lindsay Stidham) develops a curious chemistry of its own with the actors, and a slender but unmistakable brand of movie magic happens. Not to put too fine a point on it. Costarring Marguerite Moreau as Sam’s far too glamorous fiancée, Steph. (76 min.)
